Driving on the wrong side of a busy road has been the recipe for many car accidents both statewide and throughout the United States. It proved to be the case yet again recently in Hampton, New Hampshire and the driver responsible is still on the loose.
The driver, who police are still trying to identify, caused a three-car crash on Interstate 93 when he or she made a U-turn on the highway and was traveling southbound in the northbound side of the roadway. Oncoming traffic scrambled to get out of the oncoming car's path, and in doing so, collided with each other.
The driver was piloting a gold sedan that started by pulling over to the shoulder of northbound lanes of traffic, presumably to wait for a break in traffic. The driver then made a U-turn across both lanes to the shoulder on the other side of the road. The driver then drove down the shoulder, against the flow of traffic, to a crossover, which allowed him or her to enter southbound lanes of traffic. The accident occurred shortly after noon.
A female student at Keene State University was one of the victims in the accident and is hoping that law enforcement can identify the driver and bring him or her to justice for the injuries inflicted. The student totaled her Honda Civic in the accident and was injured when her face slammed against the steering wheel. As a result, the student had to get stitches both inside and outside a large gash on her chin.
Law enforcement is on the look out for the sedan, which is reportedly a newer model vehicle. Some witnesses believe that the driver was a female. Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has further information, is encouraged to contact area police.
